Two friends killed in a motorbike crash in Thailand were riding at "very high speed" and came off on a tight bend, an inquest has heard.Alex George and Matthew Jenkins, both 23 and from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, were less than a week into a holiday with two other friends in May 2009.

The hearing was told the two men may have swerved to avoid a dog in a main street in Northern Pattaya. Coroner John Owen recorded accidental death verdicts at the Llanelli hearing.

The inquest was read a translation of the Royal Thai Police's report into the crash, when Mr Jenkins had been riding what was described as a Honda "super bike".Lieutenant Colonel Suphachai Phuikaeokham said: "Matthew was riding a motorbike with Alex as his pillion.

"Matthew riding along at very high speed when he arrived at a sharp bend, lost control and the motorbike crashed.

"The two men were thrown off the motorbike, hit their heads on the concrete road and died."

The inquest heard that witnesses told police the motorbike hit a pavement in front of a supermarket, throwing the men off. A post-mortem examination carried out once their bodies were repatriated confirmed both men had been killed by multiple injuries caused by a motorcycle accident. The pathologist's report also mentioned the possibility Mr Jenkins had swerved to avoid a dog.

The coroner said he was satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement, and said the only verdict he could return was one of accidental death.

Mr Owen said: "A dog running out is quite a common cause for an accident of this kind." The pair were on holiday with friends Ross Robinson and Nick Harries, the inquest was told. SUMBER
