merupakan salah satu distribusi Linux yang berbasiskan Debian. Proyek
Ubuntu resmi disponsori oleh Canonical Ltd yang merupakan perusahaan
milik seorang kosmonot asal Afrika Selatan Mark Shuttleworth. Nama
Ubuntu diambil dari nama sebuah konsep ideologi di Afrika Selatan,
"Ubuntu" berasal dari bahasa kuno Afrika, yang berarti "rasa
perikemanusian terhadap sesama manusia". Tujuan dari distribusi Linux
Ubuntu adalah membawa semangat yang terkandung di dalam Filosofi Ubuntu
ke dalam dunia perangkat lunak. Ubuntu adalah sistem operasi lengkap
berbasis Linux, tersedia secara bebas dan mempunyai dukungan baik yang
berasal dari komunitas maupun tenaga ahli profesional.

Ubuntu
mempunyai filosofi sebagai berikut :

* bahwa perangkat lunak
harus tersedia dengan bebas biaya
* bahwa aplikasi perangkat
lunak tersebut harus dapat digunakan dalam bahasa lokal masing-masing
dan untuk orang-orang yang mempunyai keterbatasan fisik, dan
*
bahwa pengguna harus mempunyai kebebasan untuk mengubah perangkat lunak
sesuai dengan apa yang mereka butuhkan.

Perihal kebebasan inilah
yang membuat Ubuntu berbeda dari perangkat lunak berpemilik
(proprietary); bukan hanya peralatan yang Anda butuhkan tersedia secara
bebas biaya, tetapi Anda juga mempunyai hak untuk memodifikasi perangkat
lunak Anda sampai perangkat lunak tersebut bekerja sesuai dengan yang
Anda inginkan.

CD Ubuntu dapat diperoleh secara bebas/gratis
dalam bentuk iso maupun kepingan cd melalui shipit. Bagi pengguna
Internet di Indonesia dapat mengunduh berkas Ubuntu lebih cepat dari
cermin-cermin yang ada di Indonesia dibandingkan mengunduh dari situs
luar.

INSTALASI :

Disini
ane coba buat dual boot windows 7 dan ubuntu 10.04
langsung saja,,
download terlebih dahulu iso ubuntu dan virtual clone drive nya,,

DOWNLOAD
ISO :

DOWNLOAD VIRTUAL CLONE DRIVE

setelah itu install
virtual clone drive
lalu mount iso dengan klik kanan iso lalu pilih
mount :

setelah
itu akan muncul window wubi secara otomatis jika autoplay ga di disable
seperti ini

pilih
run wubi.exe

jika autoplay di disable maka klik dari wubi.exe
dari partisi mount nya seperti ini

lalu pilih
instal inside windows

setelah itu tentuin partisi, besarnya partisi,
username dan passwordnya yang akan di jadikan system boot nya..

setelah
selesai pilih pasang atau install

tunggu proses
sampe tampil jendela sebagai berikut dan pilih reboot sekarang/ reboot
now

setelah
itu komputer akan restart saat booting akan ada dua pilihan boot
yaitu
windows 7 dan ubuntu,,
pilih ubuntu

setelah proses
instalasi selesai sistem akan restart,,
di dalam proses booting pilih
kembali boot ubuntu

setelah itu masukkan password yang telah di
masukkan td

dan
selesailah proses instalasi..

cara
pengaplikasian repository kedalam ubuntu :
-klik APPLICATIONS
>> ACCESSORIES >> TERMINAL
-ketik sudo su lalu masukkan
password anda sesuai password saat login
-lalu ketik gedit
/etc/apt/sources.list
-hapus semua yang berada di dalam gedit
-kopi
paste salah satu paket repository di atas kedalam gedit,, save lalu
tutup gedit
-kembali ke terminal,, ketikan apt-get update
-setelah
selesai proses update,, ketikkan lagi apt-get upgrade
-setelah
selesai proses upgrade,,
-mulailah install aplikasi aplikasi ubuntu

INSTALASI WIRELESS

Untuk
pengguna laptop seperti saya [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
tentunya Wi-Fi atau wireless
merupakan suatu kebutuhan..
langsung saja,, pilih di menu bar

SYSTEM
>> ADMINISTRATION >> HARDWARE DRIVERS

setelah
searching otomatis,, akan muncul jendela hardware drivers
lalu pilih
Broadcom STA wireless,,
lalu klik panel ACTIVE di sebelah kanan
bawah,,
lalu restart...
